Start Job
This tab lets users start jobs for which they have permission.
Group box functions
Queued
This group box shows a list of jobs, by job ID and job name, that have been started but are not yet being executed by the batch controller.
Running
This group box shows a list of jobs, by job ID and job name, that are currently being executed by the batch controller.
Refresh and My jobs only
When you select Refresh, both lists are refreshed. When you select the My jobs only checkbox, only jobs started by the current user of AMT Screens are displayed in both lists.
Available
The list in the lower-left corner of the Available group box shows the jobs that the current user of AMT Screens can start. The list shows the JobId, JobName, JobType, and Description of each job.
You can filter the list by JobType by selecting a JobType from the drop-down list.
Selecting a job for execution
There are two ways to select a job for execution:
- When you select a job in the list, the job name is displayed in the Job edit box. You can then start the job by selecting Run on the right.
- When you start typing a job name in the Job edit box, the list filters automatically until only one job remains. The name of that job completes the already typed part of the JobName in the Job edit box. You can then start the job by selecting Run on the right.
After you select Run, you are prompted to confirm the run command before the job is executed.
Execution options
Before you execute the job by selecting Run, you can set execution options in the fields below the Run button.
- Printer: Select a printer from the drop-down list to send the output to.
- Queue: Select a job queue from the drop-down list. See also: Job Queue Priority.
- Request file: When the job requests textual input from an administrator, you can pre-enter the input in a text file. Enter the name of the text file in this edit box.
- Backup folder: When you enter a backup folder in this edit box, a backup of the output is copied to that folder.
- Report parameter: The string entered in this edit box is available inside the report in the Report parameter defined in the report options.
- Global parameter: The string entered in this edit box is available to the started report as global parameters.
- Do not print: When selected, the report output is not printed to a printer, but stored in a print file.
- Recover from crashpoint: When a report has crashed and the report contains code for crashpoint recovery, the report is executed and the crashpoint recovery code is activated. See the LION command SAVERECOVERYNAME (SRN).
