AMT Help Files

Network configuration B

In network configuration B a stand alone PC with a modem makes a connection with a LAN-segment, where the Application server runs and starts up the LION application (App.exe) locally. All files for the LION application are transported to the local disk of the client, by the Application server, insofar as they are needed on the client. In this case the user needs a shortcut to "AmtScreens.exe", that defines the path to the local disk.

First, the PC has to make a dialup connection with the LAN-segment on which the Application server is located, using the standard Windows Remote Access. After that "AmtScreens.exe" can be started.

AmtScreens.exe

After starting "AmtScreens.exe" in configuration B, it checks in cooperation with the Application server, whether the newest files are present locally. If the Application server has a different version than the local files, an update program called "AmtScreensUpdater.exe" and its support files will be downloaded and started. The updater will download and install the AMT Screens version present at the server and move the old AMT Screens files to a folder named "OldUpdates". After it has completed updating AMT Screens client, it will start "AmtScreens.exe" and stops.

Local files

"AmtScreens.exe" asks the Application server the time stamp of "Isp_<screen>.CTR", for every screen that has to be displayed. When there is a newer screen than the local copy, this is transported first. After that, only the local version is used. "AmtScreens.exe" checks for the newest version of a screen file. If there is a newer version this version is downloaded and started. Because only the new version of a screen file is downloaded and run locally there is a minimum network load.
