Creating the System Database

Create a System Database for the AMT-COBOL system: The AMT-COBOL system requires a System Database to function. Follow the naming convention <AMT Environment>_<Database Name> when creating databases. For example, a suitable name could be AMT_COBOL_SYSTEM. The latter part of the name should describe the database's purpose.

The following actions need to be taken before it is possible to reorganize the newly created database:

• The Environment Variable "AMTSYSTEM" must be created in the Windows system.
• The Sys.ini configuration file must be created.

These steps are explained on the pages that follow. After setting the Environment Variable and creating the Sys.ini file, the database can be reorganized.
