Obtaining and Activating the AMT License
A license is required to use the AMT software. This license consists of two separate files—the AmtRuntime.lic and Lion.lic files.
Due to a limitation of network names in a local network, the name of the system these licenses are used on may not exceed 15 characters. |
Each new AMT installation comes with a default and unactivated license file called Default_Lion.lic. This file needs to be copied and renamed to Lion.lic and has to remain in the same directory (for example, in ..\<AMT_Environment>\Lion).
System specific information will be written into the license file when the LionDevGenNet.exe program found in the Lion folder is started. This program will display a prompt with an error stating that the license file has expired and is therefore not valid (this is intended).

We can ignore this error message and select Ok to close the prompt and select Close to exit the program. The license has now obtained system specific information and it is ready to be sent to Avanade Customer Support. To do this, please create a ticket in the Avanade Service Portal and attach the Lion.lic file. Avanade will then activate this license and send the activated license file back along with the activated AmtRuntime.lic file.
The AmtRuntime.lic file needs to be placed in the root directory of the AMT environment. This license file can be copied and used for every other AMT installation.
The Lion.lic file needs to be copied to the Lion directory found in the root directory of the AMT environment, overwriting the existing Lion.lic file. This license file is system specific and can not be copied and used for a different system. Each system requires a unique and activated Lion.lic license for the AMT development software to run.
The AMT environment has now been activated. More information about AMT Licences can be found in the help page AMT License Files.
When the license file needs to be renewed, it is advised to make a copy of the existing license file as a backup. |
Before the license expires, a warning will be displayed within 7 days of expiration each time the AMT Developer Studio is started. |
