Global Definitions
Select the Global definitions node in the Enterprise Repository window to define, view, or change global definitions. Check in global definition changes before generating objects. Otherwise, generated objects won't include those changes.
In a migrated application, there are five global definition blocks: Colors, Constants, Redefines, SessionData, and Variables. You can check in each block separately, and you can add or remove blocks as needed.
For a new application, only two blocks are available by default: Colors and Variables. You can create additional blocks by setting the related option: Constants for the Constants block, Retain for the SessionData block, Redefines for the Redefines block, and Standard for other global variables.
| Global definitions are loaded in every form and report and might be cached. Large global definitions can therefore consume substantial memory. |
